We're thrilled to gather in Yakima at West Valley Middle School for a day filled with inspiring sessions, engaging discussions, and the opportunity to connect with fellow educators who share your passion for social studies. Whether you're a seasoned professional or new to the field, this conference promises to be a valuable experience.
The theme of our summit is Starting at Home: Social Studies is Local. This theme moves beyond the classroom, urging educators to ignite a passion for social studies by starting right where students live. It's about:
Uncovering stories right outside the school door: Dive deep into local history, current events, and pressing issues through field trips, community partnerships, and student-led investigations.
Making connections that matter: Bridge the gap between textbooks and lived experiences, helping students see how social studies directly impacts their lives and communities.
Empowering young changemakers: Cultivate critical thinking, constructive dialogue, and civic engagement, equipping students to become informed, active citizens who shape their local and global worlds.
This summit isn't just about "going local." It's about using your own backyard as a springboard to explore the wider world, fostering a nuanced understanding of social issues and inspiring students to become agents of positive change.

What’s Included: Registration offers 5 clock hours, free parking, continental breakfast, and lunch. (*Lunch is not included with registrations placed after January 30 due to catering)
