ANNOUNCEMENT: 2024 Fall Conference Keynote

We’re thrilled to announce that we will gather at Chinook Middle School for our 2024 Fall Conference! Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 12, and plan to join us for a day filled with inspiring sessions, engaging discussions, and the opportunity to connect with fellow educators who share your passion for social studies. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or new to the field, this conference promises to be a valuable experience.

This year's theme is Civil Discourse in the Classroom: Cultivating Respectful Dialogue. As educators, fostering an environment where civil discourse thrives is more important than ever, especially in light of the upcoming election season.

We are excited to announce our keynote speaker, Julie Wise, the King County Director of Elections. A champion for increasing both accessibility and security, Julie is dedicated to removing barriers to voting, while maintaining accuracy, security, and transparency. She has been a vocal advocate for expanding language access and has been successful in adding four non-English languages to King County Elections’ suite of full-service languages. Julie has expanded voter outreach and education through the Voter Education Fund, a first-of-its-kind public philanthropic partnership that provides funds and training to community organizations doing non-partisan voter registration and education work in historically marginalized communities. In her years as Director of Elections, Julie has been recognized at many levels for her contributions to elections and drive for innovation. We are thrilled to welcome Julie Wise as 2024 Fall Conference keynote.

Conference registration will open in mid-August. Be on the lookout for updates!
