Background on MOHAI
Since opening in 1952, the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) has established itself as the preeminent institution in the region for engaging people in the exploration and understanding of the history, character and development of our community. MOHAI provides the people of Seattle, King County and the Puget Sound region an opportunity to understand and appreciate their diverse and common heritage, strengthen a sense of time and place, and gain the historical perspective and knowledge essential to the well being of all communities. MOHAI activities are specifically designed to help individuals come face-to-face with the challenges of the past, to understand their role in the present, and to envision opportunities for the future. MOHAI has been accredited by the American Association of Museums since 1973.
For several years MOHAI has been actively engaged in developing plans for a new regional history center set to open in 2011 in a location that more effectively serves our community and better meets our requirements for exhibits and educational programs. MOHAI is now engaged in a comprehensive effort to enhance programs and strengthen the organization's internal capacity as we begin a three year capital campaign. The Educator will play a key role in expanding MOHAI's capacity to serve students and teachers and we work toward building the program for our future home. <<Picture (Metafile)>>
