Hi Everyone,
The Washington Geographic Alliance is pleased to make the following National
Geographic maps available in sets to your class free of charge.
This week we have the following National Geographic maps available:
*A World Transformed*
"In 1539 Hernando de Soto's 600-man army, with hundreds of horses and pig in
tow, marched through La Florida past 'great fields of corn, beans, and
squash...spread out as far as the eye could see.' Les than a century later,
the powerful chiefdoms those fields had nourished lay in ruins, felled
by dieseases unknowingly carried by the Spanish and their livestock...."
*Changing Climate*
"The scientific evidence is clear: Surface temperatures on Earth are warming
at a pace that signals a decisive shift in the global climate, one expected
to last for centuries...."
If you'd like a map set, we'd be happy to mail them to you. Please let us
know how many you want (5, 10, 15, 20, or 25) and the address we should mail
them to. Send your requests to President at washgeo.org.
To receive these materials, you'll need to be a member of the Washington
Geographic Alliance, which means providing your email address. Membership is
free, holds no oblication, and we promise not to share your address with
anyone. We generally do not send out more than one email per month (and
usually less often than that); you can always resign from the Alliance to
avoid future emails.
The Washington Geographic Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that works to enhance geography education in Washington State.
