The Washington Council on Economic Education would like to invite educators
to attend a Teaching the Ethical Foundations of Economics Teacher Workshop.
Due to the generosity of PEMCO and an Excellence in Economic Education
grant, we will be providing a limited number of full workshop fee
scholarships, sub pay, complimentary clock hours, and curriculums. The
workshop will be devoted to exploring the new National Council on Economic
Education book , Teaching the Ethical Foundations of Economics. The lessons
contained therein show the important role ethics and character play in a
market economy and how, in turn, markets influence ethical behavior. The
lessons reintroduce an ethical dimension to economics in the tradition of
Adam Smith, who believed ethical considerations were central to life.
Teaching the Ethical Foundations of Economics actively involves students
through simulations, group decision making, problem solving, classroom
demonstrations and role-playing. The lessons encourage students to think
critically about ethical dilemmas. To learn more about the workshop or to
register, go to www.waecon.org <http://www.waecon.org/> .
