First official call for those seeking lesson plans/curriculum/study
guide
about native awareness and peaceful conflict resolution for their fall
classes. Based on the Sand Creek Massacre video, the plans take
students
through thought-provoking hands on objectives that relate the past
to the present via Cheyenne and Arapaho oral histories. The award-
winning
DVD is lauded by one educator as:
"As for the kids, they loved the DVD and clapped after it was
over..Two children compared
it to the Holocaust but on a smaller scale after we went thru some of
the events that happened..They grimaced
a few times during the film because of what had occurred and the pain
that the Natives
went thru..When I asked who were the Savages and stated that the
Natives were called
Savages for defending their land, many said the US soldiers seemed
like the Savages."
