Dear Washington State Social Studies Educators and Interested Community
Members:

The mission of the Washington State Council for the Social Studies is to
provide leadership, service, and support for all social studies educators.
With a membership of nearly 800, WSCSS strives to be a premier voice for
social studies professionals in Washington State. It advocates for the
vital role of the social studies and assists educators through professional
development based on effective and innovative instruction. Conferences and
publications provide a network of services to members. WSCSS also focuses
its time and resources on supporting pre-service and new teachers in their
growth as education professionals. We work together with Washington State
Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction Social Studies Curriculum to
advance strong social studies instruction through fair and reasonable
assessment such as the social studies Classroom-based Assessments (CBAs).

As co-presidents of WSCSS we are asking for your assistance in providing us
with insights and information related to our expressed mission highlighted
above. We would appreciate it very much if you would please take about five
or ten minutes to answer the questions on the online survey. We would like
to have your feedback by May 15th; this information will be the basis of
discussion at the WSCSS Board meeting a little later in May.

The survey is at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=134303798325

With Sincere Appreciation for your time and thoughts,

Co-Presidents of Washington State Council for the Social Studies
