***U.S.-ASIA RELATIONS IN HISTORICAL AND CONTEMPORARY PERSPECTIVES***
Workshop for K-14 Educators
Saturday, April 21, 2007 ~ 10:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Washington State University, Spokane Campus
For the third year in a row, the UW East Asia Resource Center and the WSU
Asia Program of the History Department have paired up to offer a workshop on
Asian studies for educators in Eastern Washington. This year's topic is of
crucial importance to understanding the world today: Join us for a look at
U.S. relations with China, Japan, and Korea in historical and contemporary
perspectives. Presentations include: "U.S. - China Relations," David Pietz,
Director of the Asia Program and Assistant Professor of Modern Chinese
History, Washington State University; "U.S. - Japan Relations," Noriko
Kawamura, Associate Professor of History, Washington State University, and
Director of the WSU Peace and Security research partnership with
International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan; "U.S. - Korea
Relations;" and "Classroom Resources for Teaching about East Asia," Mary
Cingcade, Associate Director, East Asia Resource Center, University of
Washington.
REGISTRATION: The registration fee is $25. Clock hours are available free of
