REMINDER: 2008 NCTA SEMINARS START SOON
Calling Washington Educators!

Educators in Washington are invited to apply for a 2008 National Consortium
for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) 30-hour seminar about East Asia. Taught by
master teachers and Asia scholars, NCTA seminars provide educators with a
valuable solid background in the history, geography, and culture of China,
Japan, and Korea. The seminars are generously funded through a grant by the
Freeman Foundation and are offered at no cost to educators. Additional
benefits of participating in an NCTA seminar include course books, classroom
materials, generous stipends, and alumni benefits such as study tours and
mini grants.

The 2008 seminars are being offered in Kent, Northshore (Bothell), and
Spokane.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and priority deadlines apply
for some seminars, so educators are encouraged to apply soon. Download the
application from the UW East Asia Resource Center (EARC) Web site,
<http://jsis.washington.edu/earc/ncta_seminars.shtml>, or request an
application from the EARC by calling (206) 543-1921 or emailing
<earc at u.washington.edu>.
