An East Asia Resource Center Workshop for K-12 Teachers
Saturday, September 8, 2007 ~ 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Bellevue Community College's Main Campus L-Building, 1st Floor (Room No.
L126)
The East Asia Resource Center (EARC) invites you to attend a workshop
designed for K-12 teachers that will inspire you to include study about
Japanese culture in your classroom. Included will be ideas for integrating
Japan studies into reading, art, and social studies core curriculum. The
workshop will be offered in conjunction with the Aki Matsuri (Fall Festival)
on the campus of Bellevue Community College. The instructors will be Mary
Hammond-Bernson, Director of the East Asia Resource Center, University of
Washington, and classroom teachers and experienced workshop presenters
Oralee Kramer and Patricia Burleson.
REGISTRATION: There is no cost for this workshop and participants will
receive three (3) free clock hours. The first 30 teachers who register by
September 2, 2007 will also receive free materials and a Japanese (bento)
lunch. To register, please send (preferably via e-mail) your name, address
(home and school) phone number, e-mail address, subject, and grade level
assignment to Patricia Burleson at burleson at rockisland.com or 241 Perkins
Lane, Lopez Island, WA, 98261.
*Previous participants are invited to join us again this year. The content
of this workshop varies each year, and the title for the official clock hour
form will indicate that this is not the same workshop you have previously
attended.*
