The Save Our History National Honors - A New Opportunity for Students
and Teachers!
This year, The History Channel will award scholarships of up to $5,000
to students who tell us about their efforts to learn about and help
document or preserve their local history. The History Channel will also
award cash prizes of up to $5,000 to teachers who have used local
history to enhance history and social studies units in the 2006-2007
school year.
One student and one teacher will receive a grand prize of $5,000,
national recognition on The History Channel, and a free trip to
Washington D.C., where they will be recognized as the Save Our History
Teacher and Student of the Year at the National Honors event in June
2007. 24 students and 24 teachers will win $500 and other prizes,
including digital cameras and DVD's. Elementary, middle, and high
school students and teachers are eligible to enter. To be considered,
teachers or students must submit their work by March 30th, 2007.
Many National History Day projects will qualify and entering is easy!
