WSCSS Yakima Conference 2024

Washington Educators! Save the date! We're thrilled to gather in Yakima at West Valley Middle School on Saturday, February 3, 2024 for a day filled with inspiring sessions, engaging discussions, and the opportunity to connect with fellow educators who share your passion for social studies. Whether you're a seasoned professional or new to the field, this conference promises to be a valuable experience.

The theme of our summit is Starting at Home: Social Studies is Local. This theme goes beyond simply emphasizing the importance of a local focus in social studies education. It delves into the critical role that local exploration plays in helping us understand the current events and pressing issues shaping our community and the world.

By examining relevant and timely topics through a local lens, the conference empowers social studies educators to:

  • Connect social studies learning to students' lived experiences and foster a sense of civic responsibility.

  • Develop critical thinking skills and encourage students to participate in constructive dialogue about local issues.

  • Empower students to become informed and engaged citizens who can make a positive impact on their community and the world.

What’s Included: Registration offers 5 clock hours, free parking, continental breakfast, and lunch.

Contact Information: If you have any questions or require assistance leading up to the conference or on the day of the event, please don't hesitate to contact us at contactwscss@gmail.com. Our dedicated team is here to help and ensure your participation goes smoothly.
