Shared HomeLessons of Stewardship

This free, online professional development conference for social studies teachers will be held 9:00 am to 12:00 pm PT, Saturday, April 23. We’ll hear from Hilary Franz, the Washington State Commissioner of Public Lands, Seattle Times reporter, and author, Lynda Mapes, Teacher Leslie Heffernan, and Warren Seyler, Spokane Tribal Spokesman.

Attendees will examine cultural narratives while critically considering community perspectives, environmental science, and public policies that center on sustainability. We’ll also explore how we can listen to stories and experiences of all peoples, respect what is valued by each other and in our communities, and deliver inclusive instructional practices in the classroom. We’ll review grade-level ideas and resources.
